Cubs Capitalize On Shaky Start By Wainwright
Adam Wainwright surrendered two home runs and four runs in the first, but settled in after that. Carlos Beltran stayed hot with a solo homer, but it wasn’t enough. Wainwright retired 22 of the 29 batters he faced in an otherwise solid seven innings of work as the Cardinals fell to the Cubs, 4-2.

Nelson Leaving Purple Aces
UE Head Coach Marty Simmons issued a statement Tuesday afternoon announcing Guard Jordan Nelson is leaving Evansville and will try to continue his basketball career at another school. Simmons says Nelson wants to pursue "other educational opportunities." As a sophomore last season, Nelson averaged 7.8 minutes and 2.2 points in 27 games.

Miller Strong In Series Opener
Shelby Miller allowed just two hits in five innings before leaving with cramps. Yadier Molina helped Miller exit with a lead by hitting a two-run double and the Cardinals took the series opener against the Cubs 5-2 Monday night after a 2-hour rain delay. Cards reliever Edward Mujica surrendered a 2-out homer to Darwin Barney in the 9th, but managed to pick up his 20th save.
