Aces Fall To Creighton in OT


After Josh Jones hit a jumper with 23 seconds left, Colt Ryan missed just before the buzzer to end his career-best 43-point game, and Creighton came back from a 14-point second-half deficit to beat Evansville 93-92 in overtime Tuesday night in Omaha. Ryan, who made 9 of 10 shots for the Purple Aces (14-14, 8-9) in the second half, finished 15 of 20

Gibson Southern Names Hart As FB Coach


Former Reitz High School player Nick Hart is the new head football coach at Gibson Southern. He replaces Rick Stefanich, who stepped down after a 4-7 season. He spent the past four seasons as an assistant to his father, former Reitz coach John Hart, at Class 5A power Warren Central. The Warriors went 11-1 last season, losing in the sectional round to eventual state champion Carmel.

MD Sophomore Up For National Award


Mater Dei High School sophomore Maura Muensterman has been nominated for the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award. Muensterman has lifted the Wildcats' girls' basketball team to their first semistate berth in school history. No. 1 Mater Dei (25-1) will play No. 3 Triton Central (24-1) at 5 p.m. CST on Saturday in the Class 2A Bedford Semistate. (MORE)

Castle Diver Advances


Castle's David Pate earned a berth in the IHSAA diving finals on Tuesday, finishing eighth in the regional at Bloomington North. Pate, a junior who won the Castle Sectional title, was fifth after five dives but slipped to seventh after eight before winding up in eighth, the final qualifying spot for Friday's state finals preliminaries at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis

Latest AP Top 10s Released in Indiana


The Associated Press Top 10 Indiana high school boys basketball teams were released Monday. No area teams in the top 10 or getting votes in 4A. In 3A, Bosse remains ranked at #7. No area teams in 2A, but Class A still sees Barr-Reeve at #1, Loogootee staying at #7, North Davies dropping to #11 and Evansville Day School getting votes.

Boys Sectional Pairings Revealed


Boys basketball pairings were released Sunday afternoon on WYFX and WRCY. The new North gym will be playing host to the 4A Sectional with Castle facing Central the first night. The second night of play has Harrison taking on Reitz and North vs. the Castle/Central winner. The 3A Boonville Sectional has Gibson Southern meeting Bosse with the winner to face Boonville. (MORE)

Rage Final Tryouts Set for 2/26


The Evansville Rage Indoor Football team will hold final tryouts from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Metro Sports Complex. Tryout fee is $50 in advance and $65 at the door. Pre-register at www.evansvillerage.com. The Rage will play in the Continental Indoor Football League. All the home games will be played at Swonder Ice Arena. (MORE)
