Sunday PM Gas Leak Closes Roads In Gibson County


Roads around the area of State Road 64 and Top Hat Road in Gibson County were blocked off for hours Sunday after a vehicle hit a gas main. Vectren worked on fixing the gas leak and had the roads back open before 9pm. There were three people in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but no one was injured.

An Illinois man is in custody on drug related charges after a Gibson County traffic stop. Authorities are holding 34 year old Justin Davis of Allendale, Illinois on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of meth. DuBois County Accident Injures 1



A DuBois County man was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident Saturday night. Residents speak on both sides of wheel tax issue


   Knox County residents for and against a requested county wheel tax gave their opinions last night before the Knox County Council. Council has a request to put a 25-dollar wheel tax in place on registered vehicles; if implemented, the funds would go toward improving the County's roads.

Duke's new plant replaces older facilities


      The Duke Energy power plant at Edwardsport is now operational.  The final hurdles were cleared late last week, leading to this week's start-up.  At full capacity, the plant can generate 618 megawatts of power at one time.
     

E-911 gets internal loan to meet budget


The Knox County Council approved an up to 200-thousand dollar internal loan for Knox County's E-911 department. E-911 director Debbie Schmidtknecht told Council as of May 31st, her department was two-thousand dollars in the red, due to a missing monthly state payment. County Council president Bob Lechner reminded Schmidtknecht it must be paid back by December 31st.

VPD arrest Vincennes woman for battery


     Vincennes City Police arrested a Vincennes woman yesterday evening following a call to a reported battery at 415 South Third Street.
     Officers responded to the location to investigate the fight.  Authorities then arrested 51 year-old Brenda McKeon on a single count of battery resulting in bodily injury. 

Authorities seeking clues in Animal Shelter fire


      Lawrence County authorities are seeking clues in yesterday's fire at the Lawrence County Animal Shelter.  The fire destroyed the small shelter near the community of Pinkstaff.
       At this time, authorities list the cause as suspicious, since various items were found missing from the shelter.  The Illinois State Fire

Wolfe cause of death from asphyxiation


 Linton Police Chief Tony Jerrell says investigators believe 19-year-old Katelyn Wolf died of asphyxiation.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday in Terre Haute.
 Wolfe's body was found by a state conservation officer in a body of water in the Greene-Sullivan State forest Monday evening.
