Fewer Tornadoes in Illinois this Year

The number of tornadoes in Illinois is down so far this year.

Illinois has only seen 23 tornadoes in 2014.

Illinois State climatologist Jim Angel says the state usually has had more than 40 by now.

Angel says there’s a neat new online tool for weather enthusiasts that allows users to track tornadoes that have popped up in Illinois over the last 64 years.

You can find the tornado tracker on the Midwestern Regional Climate Center’s website. (mrcc.isws.illinois.edu)
