GM Planning $27 Million Investment In Bedford Plant
General Motors says it plans to make a 27-million dollar investment in equipment at its Bedford, Indiana plant, so it can produce aluminum engine blocks.
The investment would create 42 jobs, bringing the total number of GM workers in Bedford to 656.
The automaker is taking advantage of a nearly 2-million dollar tax abatement from the Bedford Economic Development Commission, but the plan has yet to be approved by the Bedford City Council.
If the project gets the final green light from the council, the expansion should be finished by March of 2016.
