Governor Pence Declares Official Period of Mourning for Fallen Officers

Governor Mike Pence has declared an official period of mourning to honor the loss of three Indiana law enforcement officers in the line of duty in the course of one week.

The Governor ordered flags to be lowered across the state of Indiana during the period of mourning, which extends through the final services on Friday for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Perry Renn and Gary Police Officer Jeffrey Westerfield.

Pence traveled to Lake County Tuesday where he met with the family of Officer Westerfield who was shot to death in his patrol car Sunday.

Indianapolis Metro Police Officer Perry Renn was shot to death on Saturday.

Meanwhile, flags were lowered in Tipton County on Monday as Tipton County Deputy Sheriff Jacob Calvin was laid to rest.

Calvin was killed in a single car crash while responding to a call last Saturday.
