IMPD Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty
Flags are at half-staff across Indianapolis as the city mourns another IMPD officer killed in the line of duty.
Officer Perry Renn died Saturday during a shootout with a man armed with a high-powered rifle.
Renn and another officer were checking out a report of shots fired near 34th Street and Forest Manor Avenue when they came across Major Davis Junior in a nearby alley.
Davis was also shot and remains in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital.
Davis has a long history with police.
According to police records, Major Davis Junior is mentioned in at least seven incidents since 2006, including two as an adult.
In 2007, Davis was arrested for possession of cocaine and in 2008, he was arrested for dealing drugs.
Majors' father died of a heart attack in 2003 while in police custody, but the family accused IMPD of brutally beating him while arresting him.
