GSH Implements Full Non-Smoking and Tobacco Use Policy
Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes says it will transition to a full non-smoking and tobacco use campus on August 1st.
Unlike the previous policy that allowed employees to smoke in their personal vehicles during breaks, the new policy will prohibit smoking and tobacco use anywhere on hospital property at any time during an employee’s shift, including break times.
The hospital says it believes the non-smoking environment will create a safer, healthier workplace, workers will not be bothered by smoke and those who want to quit may have more of an incentive to do so.
Employees who are trying to quit smoking cigarettes and other tobacco products can receive assistance and support through the hospital.
