More Than 150 New Laws Take Effect Today

More than 150 new state laws passed by the 2014 General Assembly go into effect today.

Among them is a gasoline usage tax that will be seven-percent of the average price of gasoline statewide during the previous month.

A restructured criminal code creates minimum sentences for the most violent felonies and adds up to 20-years onto the sentences of habitual felons.

People who legally carry guns are now allowed to have them in school parking lots, Indiana's Lifeline Law now provides protection to underage drinkers who call 9-1-1 to report illegal activity, and coaches of football players younger than 20 must be certified in concussion awareness every two-years.
