Driver Inattention Blamed for Crash with an INDOT Vehicle

Indiana State Police say driver inattention is the cause of an accident Thursday morning in which a van slammed into an Indiana Department of Transportation vehicle in Crawford County.

25-year-old Demetrius Arthur of Louisville, Kentucky was westbound on I-64 when his cell phone rang.

When he reached to pick-up the phone, he failed to see an unoccupied INDOT vehicle with an active arrow sign parked in the driving lane.

Arthur was taken to Harrison County Hospital for evaluation.

There were no other injuries.

Damage to the INDOT truck and trailer is estimated at 30-thousand dollars.
