Third Murder Suspect Captured in Harrison Co.

Indiana State Police have arrested the third and final suspect in a double homicide near Paoli last week.

35-year-old John Carpenter was found hiding in a barn in Harrison County.

His abandoned pick-up truck was found in Harrison County last week and police have been searching the area since then.

Carpenter, along with 36-year-old James Davidson of Marengo and 48-year-old Elbert Brooks of New Albany, are charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and Robbery.

Police say Monday’s shootings were the result of a meth deal gone bad.

56-year-old Nicholas Fields and 25-year-old Cory Michael Harris, both from Paoli, were killed in the shootings.

A third man, 29-year-old Daniel Smitson of Paoli, is recovering from a gunshot wound to his mouth.
