Vincennes Man Arrested in String of Arson Fires
Vincennes Police made an arrest Thursday in connection with four arson fires and one attempted arson.
22-year-old James Beamon admitted to setting the December 2011 fire that destroyed the Gimbel-Bond building on Main Street in downtown Vincennes.
He also admitted to setting fire to four buildings on Washington Avenue: a commercial building owned by David Shelton in June of last year; the Pine Box
building in March, and the C-and-G Cleaners building in May.
He also admitted to attempting to set fire to the Attic on Washington Avenue
a day after the C-and-G Cleaners’ fire.
Beamon is facing four counts of arson, one count of attempted arson, and
one count of probation violation.
His arrest follows an intensive investigation by Vincennes Police, The Knox County Sheriff's Office, the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office and the Vincennes Fire Department.
