The closure of State Road 61 in Monroe City for roadway reconstruction has been rescheduled. State highway officials say Milestone Contractors will wait until July 7th to officially close the highway. Officials say waiting until July 7th will minimize the inconvenience to motorists and Monroe City residents during the Fourth of July holiday. On July 7th, contractor's crews will be closing State Road 61 from the junction of State Road 241 in Monroe City to the junction of State Road 57 in Petersburg. The official detour will follow State Road 241, U.S. 50 and State Road 57. State Road 61 must be closed for the installation of an extension storm water drainage system through the town. The project’s overall completion date is October 2015.
