Linton Man Appears in Court on Reckless Homicide Charge
A 20-year-old Linton man appeared in Greene County Superior Court Monday on charges stemming from a three-vehicle fatal accident on State Road 54 back in January.
The Greene County Daily World reports Todd Bennett is charged with Reckless Homicide, Operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death, Operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury, Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury on another person, and Reckless driving.
During Monday’s hearing, Bennett also had his driving privileges suspended.
Authorities say Bennett was traveling around 95 miles an hour when he rear-ended a car driven by 48-year-old Lisa Shafer of Odon.
His vehicle then hit head-on a truck driven by 51-year-old Phillip Reynolds of Linton.
Reynolds was killed in the crash.
A second person, 22-year-old Craig Sullivan of Worthington, is facing a charge of Providing or Furnishing an Alcoholic Beverage to a Minor Resulting in Death.
