Green Dot Money Card Scam Involves Law Enforcement Impersonators

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office is reporting another Green Dot Money Card Scam.

This time the unknown person calls and tells the victim to pay an amount of money to a local law enforcement agency or go to jail.

The victim is then instructed to go to a local pharmacy and purchase a Green Dot Money Card.

The victim then receives a second phone call where they are asked to read the numbers off the back of the card to the "law enforcement" impersonator.

That gives the scammer access to money on the card.

Police say this is a scam and to simply hang up if you get one of these calls.

The Sheriff’s Office says if you are facing charges through Gibson County you must be booked into the Gibson County Jail before the office would accept a cash or credit card bond.
