Vincennes Burglary Arrest

Vincennes Police say they have made an arrest in connection with several burglaries.

20-year-old Garrett David Melton is being held without bond in the Knox County Jail on three counts of Burglary and one count each of Fraud on a Financial Institution, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Schedule 4 Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Probation Violation.

Police received a break in their investigation when witnesses observed a man fleeing McCoy's Grocery on West Minneapolis early Friday morning with a cash register and entering a residence.

During a search of the West Jefferson Avenue home , police found items stolen from Bethlehem Baptist Church and from a private residence on West Eberwine.

Melton is also believed to be connected with the burglary at McCoy's Grocery as well as break-ins at Quickies Sandwich Shop, Superior Auto, Impressed Coffee, Halter's Market and Norge Village.

Additional charges are possible.
