Work Zone Deaths

Governor Mike Pence is among those mourning the deaths of two highway workers struck and killed Friday in a work zone on I-69 north of Indianapolis.

The governor says the deaths of Kenneth Duerson Junior of Indianapolis and Coty Demoss of Noblesville should be a reminder to drivers to slow down in work zones.

The driver of the pick-up truck who hit the two men, 22-year-old Jordan Stafford of Fortville, was not seriously injured.

In December of 2012, Jordan’s brother, 19-year-old Logan Stafford, was killed when he ran a stoplight in Hancock County and was hit by an INDOT truck.
