Indiana Delegation Asks IRS to Investigate Tax Fraud Affecting Hoosier Physicians

The Indiana congressional delegation has sent a letter to the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service asking for an investigation into reports that hundreds of Indiana doctors and health care professionals have been victimized by identity theft.

The identities of Hoosier medical professionals have been used to fraudulently obtain federal and state tax refunds.

The IRS is already investigating those cases.

Indiana's total number of such cases peaked this year at a record 130, up from 54 reported last year.
