Toyota Plants 100-Thousandth Tree

Toyota of Indiana will celebrate the planting of its 100-thousandth tree this afternoon.

The company planted the trees as part of its Afforestation program, which began in 2008.

The program re-introduced native tree species to parts of the Toyota manufacturing campus in Gibson County.

The tree campaign has also created new habitats for wildlife -- including whitetail deer, red-tail hawks, and bobcats.

An Environmental Milestone Ceremony will be held from 1:00 until 1:30 (CST) this afternoon at the Toyota Children's Center.

The event will include the sharing of the environmental details of the project with kids in the Children's Center.
