Smoke Alarm Program

A new grant program announced Monday will provide Indiana volunteer fire departments with free smoke alarms for Hoosiers.

There were a total of 85 fire-related deaths in 2013.

40 fatalities have been reported so far this year.

State Fire Marshal Jim Greeson says his office hopes to provide 500 smoke alarms with 10-year batteries to volunteer fire departments that may not have the resources to purchase them for their communities.
