Illinois state lawmakers are headed back to Springfield this week to start wrapping up the spring legislative session. There’s plenty left to do before the legislature’s adjournment date of May 31st. Lawmakers must pass a new state budget and decide whether or not to extend the income tax increase set to expire next year. Governor Pat Quinn says he would also like to see the house and senate raise the state’s minimum wage. Other bills pending include with everything from revenge porn to education funding… and a few long shots like an expansion of gambling and a tax on soda.
