Governor Lauds City of Washington Firefighters’ Creativity at National Fire Conference
Governor Mike Pence this week recognized two Washington firefighters during the annual Fire Department Instructor’s Conference in Indianapolis.
About nine years ago, Battalion Chief Kevin Pride and Lieutenant Dwayne Murphy built a simulator prototype realistically simulating cutting a hole in a roof for vertical ventilation, breaching a wall, and entering and exiting through a window.
All of those skills are necessary to save lives and property and to reduce injuries.
The simulator, which cost about a thousand dollars to build, can be quickly assembled and taken down.
Indiana has built 10 simulators and distributed them to each fire district in the state.
