"Do Not Call" Summit Held In Indianapolis
Indiana is teaming up with states all across the country to take aim at telemarketers.
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says the goal of yesterday's "Do Not Call" summit was to help state and federal agencies figure out the best way to protect consumers.
Zoeller says it's important to recognize that many of these annoying calls stem from sources outside the U.S, which falls outside the states’ jurisdictions.
He says states need assistance from the federal government, specifically the Federal Communications Commission, to do more in terms of regulating these types of calls.
Zoeller says his office received more than 14-thousand "Do Not Call" complaints last year.
