Pence Renews Talks Over Posey Co. Fertilizer Plant
A planned fertilizer plant near Mount Vernon is back in the mix for state economic incentives, nearly a year after Governor Pence pulled the plug on an incentive offer.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation had offered Midwest Fertilizer an economic development package in the final weeks of Governor Mitch Daniels' administration.
The I-E-D-C yanked that package off the table after Pentagon officials testified that fertilizer made by Pakistan-based Fatima Group, which owns just under half the company, had been used in bombs in Afghanistan.
Pence says the state will resume negotiations since he's received assurances from the Pentagon that Fatima has made great strides in making its fertilizer less volatile and keeping it out of the hands of terrorists.
