The old Essex Wire building south of Vincennes has a new owner. KCDC President Gary Gentry says Excel Warehouse Services will use about 100-thousand square feet of the 246-thousand square foot facility for auto plastics recycling. He says the remainder of the space could be leased out to another business. The company has already acquired the property and is storing materials there. The plant was built in 1967. 250 workers lost their jobs in 2008 when Essex closed the plant as part of a restructuring plan. Plans at the time called for the Vincennes plant’s operations to be moved to Tennessee and Mexico.
