BBB Warns of Fake Malaysian Airline News Scam

The Tri-State Better Business Bureau is warning the public of scammers attempting to take advantage of news about the missing Malaysian airliner.

Here’s how it works: Facebook, Twitter or other social media users may see a post of a newsflash saying "Video of Malaysia MH370 Plane Found in Bermuda Triangle, Passengers Alive."

If you click the link, you are taken to a third party website.

A pop up may appear prompting you to "update your video player."

But when you click "OK," you aren't getting a new software version.

You are really downloading malware.

Like all scams, authorities say this has many variations.
