Evansville Man Sentenced On Federal Firearm Charge

A federal judge sentenced an Evansville man Thursday to 4-years in federal prison for knowingly receiving a firearm with the intent to commit a robbery.

Earlier this year, 27-year-old Basil Kamali admitted he was preparing to commit a robbery in January of 2013 and needed a firearm.

He arranged a meeting with an individual to make a purchase at a Walmart on South Red Bank Road.

Kamali was arrested after purchasing a weapon from an undercover agent.
