A new survey out shows moving traffic violations can cost drivers big money. The insurancequotes.com study says even minor infractions can boost your car insurance costs significantly for up to three years. The study says drivers with a minor speeding violation of up to 15 miles per hour over the legal limit can see their insurance costs rise by 21%. DUIs are the most expensive at 93% followed by reckless driving offenses which carry an 82% rise in premiums. Getting a citation for following too closely or not signaling can cost you 19% and improperly using a car pool lane can get you an 18% rise in premiums. A seat belt violation yields a 5% rise. As usual, analysts say traffic safety classes - even ones online - can help remove blemishes.
