Governor Pence has signed legislation allowing the sale of alcohol at the Indiana State Fair. Alcohol sales have been banned at the fair for 67-years. It will still be up to the fair commission to allow sales. State fair spokesman Andy Klotz telles the a Indianapolis Star alcohol sales will allow the fair to promote Indiana's growing wine and craft beer industries. Opponents have expressed fears that alcohol sales will hurt the fair's family-friendly atmosphere. Before Pence signed the law, Indiana and North Carolina were the only states not allowing alcohol sales for on-site consumption at their state fairs.
