Body Identified as that of Missing Woman
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division says the body of a woman found Friday afternoon near the White River in Pike County has been identified as that of Cathryn McGill.
An autopsy was conducted Saturday in Evansville.
The cause of death was ruled a drowning.
Cathryn was riding with her husband Adam on December 29th when floodwaters from the White River swept their pick-up truck off State Road 257 at the Pike-Daviess County line.
A group of hunters were able to rescue Adam McGill, but Cathryn was unable to be found.
The search for her body has continued since the day of the incident.
Around 1:45 Friday afternoon, a local resident discovered the body lying on top of some corn stalk debris near the mouth of a creek that feeds into the White River.
The McGills are from Norfolk, Virginia and were in Indiana visiting family.
