Indiana Requesting Federal Storm Aid
Governor Mike Pence is seeking federal grants for government and some non-profit organizations in 49 counties that got more than a foot of snow during a winter storm in January.
Pence says the FEMA grants would help replenish local government funds and directly alleviate further burden on local taxpayers.
If approved, the grants would pay 75 percent of eligible expenses including debris and snow removal, emergency protective measures such as search and rescue, and damage to buildings and equipment.
Among the 49 counties the governor is seeking assistance for are Owen, Sullivan, Vanderburgh, and Vigo.
