Hume School Building Safety Proposal Gains Final Passage
The Indiana Senate on Wednesday gave final approval to a measure authored by State Senator Lindel Hume of Princeton ensuring that schools are meeting safety and security guidelines to keep students and faculty safe.
Senate Bill 344 establishes the Division of School Building Physical Security and Safety within the Department of Education.
The division must develop and advise school corporations on nonbinding safety guidelines for new buildings, renovations, repairs, or alterations.
The bill now heads to Governor Pence for his consideration.
