Toddler Dies in Sullivan Day Care Fire

The state fire marshal has determined that a fatal fire at a daycare center in Sullivan was accidental.

The body of an 18-month old girl was found in a playpen. The child‘s name has not been released.

It‘s believed something caught fire near the baseboard heating.

The fire at Waterman’s Wonderland Day Care on Silver Street was reported around 5:45 AM.

Sullivan fire officials tell the Sullivan Daily Times there were about 7 or 8 children and a daycare worker inside the Day Care at the time.

This was the second fire fatality in Sullivan in the past week.

A 72-year-old man died last Thursday when fire broke out in his apartment at the Sunrise Towers high-rise apartments.
