IL: Cullerton Predicts Big Budget Troubles
It’s no secret that Illinois is facing a budget crisis, and with the income tax slated to roll back next year, things are expected get worse.
Senate President John Cullerton says the state is looking at a three-billion-dollar gap come next January.
He says students across the state could pay the price if lawmakers can’t figure out how to cushion the blow.
He’s called a joint budget hearing this week and he’s asking Republicans to come to the table with their own set of ideas on how to manage the crisis.
But, he says the fix can’t simply rely on cuts to vital services, like Medicaid.
