Indiana Senate Passes HJR 3
The Indiana Senate passed HJR-3 Monday.
Since the second sentence banning civil unions was removed from the proposed amendment, a referendum will not be held on the issue in November.
November of 2016 will be the first time it could be brought before the voters.
However, it still must pass the legislature, unchanged, next year and again in 2016.
The amendment was altered and the entire referendum process reset this year when lawmakers removed a provision banning civil unions.
