The Knox County Courthouse is getting a new elevator. The Knox County council has approved the installation of a new hydraulic elevator. The cost? About 383-thousand dollars. Advertisements for bids on the project are expected to go out in the next few weeks. The elevator is expected to be in operation sometime in September. The courthouse’s current lift is out of order due to a broken motor. While the elevator is being fixed, a chair lift system will be installed to transport disabled citizens between floors. The chair lift system will be installed for just under 12-thousand dollars.
