A Regional Science Olympiad is scheduled at Vincennes University’s Red Skelton Performing Arts Center on Saturday.
Eleven teams from 10 high schools will compete.
Competing schools include Bloomington’s Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, Sullivan, Floyd Central, Madison, New Albany, West Washington, Vincennes Lincoln, and Vincennes Rivet.
Students will compete in 23 events that will test their knowledge of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers, and technology.
This marks the 22nd year VU has hosted the Science Olympiad Regional Competition.
Members of winning teams in each event will receive medals.
Top-finishing teams will receive trophies and may advance to the State Science Olympiad on March 22nd at Indiana University in Bloomington.
In addition to the awards, the VU Foundation will congratulate students who are eligible to receive scholarships totaling $10,000 to attend VU and major in programs offered by the College of Science and Mathematics.
