A coalition of state and local groups from across Indiana is speaking out against the proposed elimination of the business personal property tax.
Indiana Association of Cities and Towns President Richard Hickman says they're concerned about House Bill 1001 and Senate Bill One.
Hickman says localities already have the ability to abate taxes for new companies that promise new jobs.
However, Hickman says not all companies necessarily deserve tax abatements.
Hickman is also mayor of Angola.
He says if the business personal property tax is eliminated, localities statewide could lose anywhere from 20% to 60% of their annual revenue.
