Lawmakers Eye Propane Tax Break

A group of Indiana state senators is offering an amendment to help Hoosiers affected by the Midwest propane shortage.

The amendment to Senate Bill 1 eliminates the sales tax on propane that costs more than $2.50 a gallon.

Senator John Waterman of Shelburn and two other senators announced the amendment Tuesday morning.

They officially introduced it to a Senate committee Tuesday afternoon.

Senator Waterman says if the move is approved, customers would get a credit on their next propane bill.
