IL: State School Supt. asks for One-Billion Dollars More in Funding

Illinois' Superintendent of Schools is defending his request for an additional one-billion-dollars in funding next year.

Chris Koch says state law requires lawmakers to give students a certain amount of money, but they've been shortchanged for years now.

Schools across Illinois have taken an 800-million-dollar cut in the past five years.

Koch says if lawmakers can't find more money to put towards education, some schools will be forced to close next year.
