Red Cross officials are urging he public to give blood at several upcoming blood drives in Daviess and Knox Counties.
Since the beginning of January, winter storms and freezing temperatures have resulted in more than 400 American Red Cross blood drive cancellations and nearly 12,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations.
Right now, blood products are being distributed to hospitals as quickly as donations are coming in.
All blood types are needed to ensure an adequate blood supply.
Eligible donors with type O negative, O positive, A negative or B negative blood are especially encouraged to give.
UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVES IN DAVIESS COUNTY WILL BE HELD:
February 6th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Berea Mennonite Church in Cannelburg. February 14th from 2:30 until 7:30 Pm at the First Mennonite Church in Montgomery.
UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVES IN KNOX COUNTY WILL BE HELD:
February 5th & 6th from Noon until 6:00 PM at the Vincennes University Beckes Student Union.
