Lifeline Bill Heads to Full Senate

The full Indiana Senate will soon consider a bill to expand Indianas' 2012 Lifeline Law.

The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday.

The legislation would provide legal protection for those under 21 - and under the influence of alcohol - who call for help in any type of emergency instead of only those related to alcohol consumption like parties and social events.

State Senator Jim Merritt says his proposal aims to encourage minors to call for help in life-threatening situations.
