Three people were injured in a three vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on US 231 about two miles south of Loogootee in Martin County.

47-year-old Stephen Simmons of Jasper failed to see a car stopped to make a left turn.

Simmon's vehicle hit the rear of a car driven by 28-year-old Milton Derstine of Loogootee.

Derstine's vehicle was knocked into the path of an oncoming van driven by 48-year-old Debra Collignon of Jasper.

Derstine's car caught fire with him trapped inside.

Individuals at the scene rolled his vehicle over and put out the fire.

Derstine was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Saint Mary's in Evansville.

Collignon was treated at Jasper Memorial and released.

A passenger in her van, Bret Collignon, was also taken to Saint Mary's in Evansville.
Simmons refused medical treatment.

As of Sunday morning, Derstine was in fair condition while Collignon was listed as in good condition.
