Waterfowl Hunters Rescued After Boat Capsizes

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boating accident involving three waterfowl hunters on the White River upstream from the Petersburg boat ramp in Pike County.

60-year-old Mike Brown of Washington was operating the boat when the bow dipped abruptly while the boat was under power.

That caused the boat to take on water.

Brown and two passengers in the boat, 46-year-old Gregory Pearce of Whittier, North Carolina and 31-year-old Donnie Wise of Mooresville, North Carolina grabbed onto decoy bags filled with decoys which kept them afloat.

Pearce managed to stay with the boat while Brown and Wise swam to the shore.

The men were rescued and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

All three men were treated for mild hypothermia and released.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
