Search for Missing Illinois Woman Continues
The search for a missing Illinois woman in Pike County will enter its 7th day Saturday.
31-year-old Cathryn McGill of Des Plaines, Illinois went missing Sunday morning when the pick-up truck she was riding in was swept off State Road 257 by floodwaters from the East Fork of the White River.
Conservation officers say after the primary search area is cleared Saturday, search efforts may be long term due to the probability that Cathryn is in the main body of the White River.
Search efforts Friday involved the use of heavy machinery to go through piles of corn stalks left behind by the floodwaters.
In addition, a private volunteer with a K9 continued searching the area.
Several personal items were located Friday in a field downstream from the accident site.
Officers and volunteers should be able to complete the search of the corn stalks in the primary search area Saturday.
Officers will also have boats on the river conducting dragging operations and K9 teams will be searching by land.
McGill’s Husband, and the driver of the truck, 35-year-old Adam McGill, was rescued with a boat by a group of hunters shortly after Sunday’s accident.
