Oakland City Woman Accused of Trying to Steal Fire Dept. Equipm
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Oakland City woman early Monday morning for Theft for allegedly attempting to steal fire department equipment for scrap.
Deputies were called to the Buckskin Volunteer Fire Department near Oakland City after receiving a call of a suspicious vehicle behind the station.
Authorities say the driver, 19-year-old Amber Reiner, attempted to flee the scene.
Police later discovered they had interrupted a burglary in progress.
They recovered a 2 inch water meter, a 5 inch water meter, 4 brass nozzles, and other miscellaneous scrap metal with a total value of over $1,150.
Reiner was booked into the Gibson County Jail on preliminary charges of Theft and Breaking and Entering.
