Bear Rescued from Floodwaters

Indiana Conservation Officers rescued a 500-pound black bear from floodwaters over the weekend in Shelby County.

The bear was stranded in an enclosure in the Fairland area.

It was left behind by its owner who evacuated his home due to flooding.

Instead of tranquilizing the bear, conservation officers created an elevated platform for the bear to get above water.

Officials noted floodwaters were going down at the time.
