Illinois Unemployment Drops But Remains High

Illinois’ unemployment rate ticked down a bit last month but the state still remains in worse shape than most of the country.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the state added over ten-thousand private sector jobs in November to put the rate at eight-point-seven percent.

Construction jobs were on the rise but the state’s manufacturers and government agencies cut payrolls.  The national unemployment rate is seven-percent.
