One person was killed in a four-vehicle accident Thursday night on US 40 in eastern Vigo County. Indiana State Police say a medical condition may have caused 25-year-old Catherine Burk of Brazil to lose control of her SUV. Burk's vehicle ran off and then re-entered the highway hitting a westbound pick-up truck driven by 23-year-old Vance Smith of Terre Haute. Smith's truck then hit an oncoming car driven by 51-year-old Karen Price of Brazil. Price's car was then hit by a second pickup truck driven by 46-year-old William Hastings of Terre Haute. Karen Price was killed in the crash. Burk and Smith escaped injury while Hastings is believed to have suffered only minor injuries.
