Man Killed By Police Faced Arrest Warrant

A rural Nashville, Indiana man who was fatally shot Thursday by Brown County Sheriff’s deputies had allegedly violated his probation in connection with the 2007 killings of two men whose bodies were found stuffed into barrels.

The Bloomington Herald-Times reports 44-year-old Troy Harden pleaded guilty in 2009 to assisting a criminal for helping Jerry Pelfree dispose of the bodies of two men Pelfree had fatally shot near Bloomington.

Pelfree had received a 130-year prison sentence, but Harden received no jail time.
He was instead placed on home detention for four years, with one year on probation after that.

Indiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances of Harden's fatal shooting.
