IL: Governor Signs Same Sex Marriage Bill into Law

Illinois is now the 16th state in the nation to allow same sex marriage.

Governor Pat Quinn signed the gay marriage bill into law…sitting at a desk once used by Abraham Lincoln to write his first inaugural address.

The new law takes effect June first, although some are suggesting passing a second law that moves up that date.

Currently, gay couples can only enter into a civil union.
